Situations That Used to Baffle Us

“We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us.” Alcoholics Anonymous (1939) · Chapter 6 · Into Action
Where it comes from

One of the Promises from Chapter 6, describing what members noticed happening partway through making their amends.

Today’s reflection

The interesting word is “intuitively.” Nobody hands you a manual for the hard conversation, the old trigger, the bad afternoon — but somewhere in the steps, the right move starts arriving on its own. It isn’t magic; it’s what happens when fear stops running the switchboard. Pause today before reacting to the thing that baffles you. The answer that surfaces in the quiet is usually the program talking.
